Police: Injured cyclist not the victim of a 'booby trap'
DENVER - A cyclist - originally believed to have been involved in a clothesline accident described as a "booby trap" by EMTs - is now believed to have been the victim of a simple accident involving a fly fisherman.
...
"Due to the size of the fish, the reporting party had to walk down the hill to obtain his fish. As he was walking down the dirt hill and attempting to tighten his fish line, the bicyclist came down the bike path. The bicyclist's helmet grazed the fish line at that time, and the bicyclist removed his hand from the handlebars swatting the fish line. At that point, the reporting party believes he lost control, and that's when the victim fell off his bike," Raquel Lopez with the Denver Police Department said.

DeleteSee that's what happens when you tighten up the drag too much! They break off and you lose 'em!
ReplyDeleteBefore I got heavily into fly fishing I used to road cycle a lot (yep, I dressed pretty much like the guy in the photo). A pinched nerve ended that. Believe it or not I got to meet Tour De France champions Lance Armstrong and Miguel Indurain once. You take your life in your hands riding on the road. I have been honked and sideswiped a couple of times. I had someone bump with their side mirror. I miss those days. Must be the tight spandex shorts.
It wasn't a pinched ballsack nerve, was it? Them tiny seats always give it too me in the bad place.
DeleteI like Rio's Clothesline OK - it's got a good front-loaded taper for taking down cyclists, but the smooth finish slides right off of lycra - so I get a lot of misses.
ReplyDeleteApparently, SA understands this issue and they are going to debut a new line at the IFTD show in August. It will be a similar taper, but with a Sharkskin texture - should be really effective and "grippy."
Combine that with the Airflo or Monic clear floating technology and that shit would be unstoppable.
DeleteBTW, that is some damn good photoshoppin'!
DeleteNow that's just dern fine!
ReplyDeleteIn all reality, it's things like this that photoshop was made for. Work? Bah.
DeleteI just put a 2 oz sinker on my spinning gear and lob it at those takin up the road when they have their own bike lane bastards. Sorry, Arizona has a ton of no common sense yuppy asshole cyclists.
ReplyDeleteFitness.... what a joke
ReplyDeleteSeriously, that guy sounds like he got racked up pretty bad, and that sucks.
ReplyDeleteNot so seriously, I pretty much imagined doing the same thing to all the uptight bike nazis in downtown Denver who act like they own all the riverside MULTI-USE paths...
Asstraffic? Was not expecting that.
DeleteTalk about MULTI-USE... haha I'm funny.
